Remaining true to its mission of helping and caring for others, Providence Mabuhay Mission Inc (PMMI), is completely aware of the need to help in whatever way possible especially in light of Covid-19 – a global pandemic that has devastated the entire hemisphere leaving nearly no country unscathed.
PMMI donated several boxes of high quality facemasks to Philippine health workers in dire need of these valuable commodity. These would help them to go about in performing their duties to the communities they serve.
One such recipient is the Health Department of North Caloocan – District 1 of the Local Government of Caloocan City. PMMI has allocated 200 boxes or about 10,000 pieces of first-class Jandra facemasks. These facemasks are Philippine manufactured using Japanese Technology, It has undergone filtration and bacterial laboratory testing at Nelson Laboratories in Utah, USA.
The turn-over was held last May 3, 2021 and was received by Dr. Maria Luisa Clamor-Calalang, Dentist IV, Dental Supervisor District 1, Health Operations Services, Caloocan City Health Department. Accompanying her is Mr. Dominador Panti, OIC – Sanitation Division, North Caloocan. The donation was facilitated thru PMMI Board Member Dr. Maria Remedios Chua-Sy. The donated facemasks will be used for their Covid-19 related activities at District 1 barangays with a population of nearly a million.
The North Caloocan District 1 Health Department caters to hundreds of indigents seeking free medical and dental services. On any given day, there are at least 300 patients who seek dental treatment in their Dental Department. That number have not considerably dwindled down despite the numerous lockdown implemented in the Philippines. PMMI – even with its limited resources – heeded the call of donations to certain areas identified by Board Members based in the Philippines, as badly in need of these supplies.
Admittedly, there will never be enough Personal Protective Equipment or PPE, for the health front liners. These modern-day heroes would resort to buying facemasks, faceshields or even medical-grade gloves from their own pockets when scarcity has become the norm at one point. But they can only spare so much change; the economy has been suffering a major blow since this pandemic started. Donations coming from NGOs and private companies are heaven-sent especially as the surge of the Delta variant is now beginning to take a hold of the Philippine archipelago.
PMMI is thankful to the generous sponsors who contributed immensely to the cause – aiding countries which are in urgent need of assistance especially in this challenging times. (jbcsydmd)
